Desert Safari
October 15, 2007
We started by 3.45 pm from Sharjah heading dubai. It was a surprise for me, that we are going to Desert Safari that day.
We booked a four wheeler(Land cruiser) from Belhasa Global Tourism & Travel. Wonder what a four wheeler is? Normally in our cars and buses the back wheels will rotate as a result of rotation of the front wheels. But in a four wheel drive all the 4 wheels rotate independently,
thus making it suitable to drive easily on the sand dunes. The temperature has come down now in Dubai.
The sides of the roads were covered with green grass thanks to the regular water supply by municipality. Within 25 minutes we were near the desert. The sand colour ranges from light brown, orange, red to grey, black.I think they have let this as a desert so that people can come to desert safari like this. Otherwise it will also be turned green.
Friendly chap:
Our driver is friendly guy, cracking jokes, giving first hand info before we went to quad biking and camp..
He showed us Al Ghurair’s exotic villa on the way.
Peek into our golden memories!!!
Quad Biking:
We reached the quad biking region. There was a small camel and people were taking photos with it.
Opposite there is a falcon and there is also a group putting gloves and took snaps with the gr8 falcon in their arms.
What a big peak it has???
Near to it there is an owl. Its very sleepy.
We took a big Squad bike so that we can ride in doubles(100Dhs for 30 mins).
There is also single squad bikes. I thought under the hot sun over the hot sand will it be a fun to ride.
But God, it was so adventurous, the bike is easy to ride give accelator, but turning the wheels was bit difficult initially. After that initial struck up we went smoothly climbing over the dunes and then turning half way round.
Suddenly our friends bike got stuck in the sand. Its digging deep as we tried to move out of it.
A guy who is roaming across for rescuing people who got stuck up in sand came and helped us and our biking continued.
Warning:
Safari is much like a roller coaster except it is on the sand. So better have some citrus flavored toffees
before you start the ride. We had a light brunch as we were warned otherwise it will create nausea during
the ride on sand dunes. Dont take any liquid just before the ride.
At 5 pm we went into the actual safari. We surfed across the sand dunes. at times the four wheel seemed
like its riding in two wheels.
we went 90 degrees downward, 45 deg right side and in various possible angles. Sand is bashing on the windows.
wow what an experience. Really unforgettable. At times our land cruiser got stuck up and our driver simply
put reverse gear and released it easily.
We went to the top of the sand dunes to watch sunset. By this time all the Belhasa group land cruisers
gathered at the meeting point and we took photos at the hightest point. we watched the hilarious sunset
and the golden sand beneath.
Wanna have a glimpse of the grand safari!!!!
Now we are heading towards the camp to have dinner and watch Belly dance.
Camel Ride: We were greeted by the camels where we are given a free ride on the ship of the desert.
The camels leg has two joints. Its legs are bending in three folds to sit and take us on its hump.
Dress like an arabian:
We got dressed in Arabian style and took photo. (they are providing the long white gown and purdha)
Henna Design: We can put Henna design by an arabic girl. She has got such a talent that she draws in seconds and shows her creativity with different designs.
Refreshments & Dinner:
Then we had a Cheese Roll(full of cheese with little vegetable). We have a choice of Coffee and tea.
We can get n number of Coco cola, Sprite as a part of our booking.
After that we had a buffet dinner. Both vegetarian and Barbequed Non- vegs are available. We had roti with humus and veg salads, cooked corns and vegetables. Then plain long grain rice , dhal, potato fry, Pennuwort salad.
Belly Dance:
Now with stomach filled we are waiting for the ultimate show of the day, the belly dance.
I thought that the girl will be with big belly. But to the surprise she was slim, 6 feet tall and with
perfect BMI index. She danced elegantly with the beats. We doubted that if she had put any vibrator in
her body. After a 10 mins non stop dance she took a steel rod and danced with it then selected people randomly from the crowd and made them to dance. Then she selected girls from the crowd and asked them
to perform some simple steps as she instructed. and finally she danced(vibrated!!) continuously for the fast beats and bid adieu to the crowd.
Totally the day was unforgettable with adventure and fun!!!!
